Backgammon tournaments
A tournament on BG Space is not "we agreed and played": the server pairs the rounds, counts Buchholz, watches the round deadline and reminds players on Telegram.
Rules in short
- Formats: Swiss, single and double elimination, round robin, One-Point
- Modes: online, offline in a hall, mixed
- Pairing automatic or set by the organiser
- Table numbers for offline and mixed events are assigned at pairing
- Round window: 72 hours by default, minutes in blitz events
- Prize places are set as percentages of the pool
Why this beats a tournament run in a chat
The server keeps the score. That sounds minor until a disputed round: Buchholz, game difference and standings are computed by one algorithm for everyone, not by a person with a spreadsheet nobody can see.
168 tournaments have been created on the platform, 76 completed, with 1,084 registrations.
FAQ
Who can create a tournament?
An administrator and an organiser. The organiser runs their own events: roster, pairing, table numbers, entering results.
What if my opponent never shows up?
Each match has a deadline. Players get reminders; after the deadline the organiser decides the result.
How do offline tournaments work?
Pairs play at the table in the hall and the organiser enters results from a phone. The platform counts score, Buchholz and standings.
