Backgammon online: six variants, tournaments and match analysis
BG Space is a Ukrainian platform for playing backgammon against live opponents. Short, long, hyper, khachapuri, 6:1 and tapa in one app. Tournaments with real pairing, a rating for every variant and neural-network analysis of your games.
Registration takes a minute. Play from a phone or a computer; there is nothing to install.
Six backgammon variants on one engine
Each variant has its own rating — being strong at short adds nothing to your long rating.
Short
15 checkers, the doubling cube, gammon and backgammon. What the world simply calls backgammon.
Long
All checkers start on the head and nothing gets hit — a game about blocking, not hitting.
Khachapuri
The score is counted in checkers, not points — the match runs to a checker difference.
Tournaments that actually finish
- Swiss, single and double elimination, round robin, One-Point
- Pairing automatic or set by hand by the organiser
- Online, offline in a hall, or mixed — with table numbers
- Telegram reminders: round start, opponent, match deadline
- Score, Buchholz and standings are computed by the server
Match analysis in two clicks
Every match played on the platform opens in the analyzer: it shows which move was best, what the mistake cost and how the odds moved through the game.
- Position evaluation: every move ranked, with the equity difference
- Cube decision: double, take or pass — with the cost of being wrong
- PR for checkers and cube separately, luck, equity graph
- Short and long backgammon; .mat and .sgf files accepted
Federation mode
The same engine runs the official tournaments of the Ukrainian Backgammon Federation at unbf.org.ua — no money, no stakes and no platform rating, with its own branding and tournament rules.
How it works
Questions people ask most often
Is it free?
Yes. Registration and play are free. There are in-platform coins for staked tables and mini-jackpots — you can play as much as you like without them.
Do I need to install anything?
No, BG Space runs in the browser on phones and computers. On a phone you can add the page to the home screen and it opens like an app.
What happens if I lose connection mid-game?
The game waits. While at least one player is away from the board the clock is stopped, and you can come back any time. If nobody comes back the game is cancelled after 48 hours and stakes are returned.
How is BG Space different from other backgammon sites?
Six variants in one place — including khachapuri, 6:1 and tapa, which you rarely find elsewhere — tournaments with real pairing and an offline mode, plus our own analyzer.
