Khachapuri
The score here is counted in checkers. However many checkers the opponent failed to bear off is what gets written down.
Rules in short
- Won? You write down the difference in checkers left on the board
- The match runs until someone reaches the agreed difference
- The price of a game depends on how convincing the win was
- The doubling cube works and multiplies checkers
Why people love it
In khachapuri there is no such thing as “scraped a win for one point”: winning by one checker and winning by ten are different results. The endgame stays tense even when the winner is already obvious.
Hence a different tactic: keeping the opponent at zero pays better than nursing a one-checker lead, and the doubling cube multiplies checkers here, so the risk and the reward grow together.
