Backgammon 6:1
Long backgammon where the six and the one work differently: a checker from the head can go straight into your home board.
Rules in short
- Roll a six and a checker from the head can go straight to the six point; roll a one and it goes to the one point
- Roll 6-1 and you do the same and roll again
- Putting the checker into your home is optional, the choice is yours
- Gammon: the opponent bore off nothing
- Backgammon: the opponent bore off nothing and still has a checker in their own starting quarter
- Everything else follows long backgammon
How it changes the game
The six and the one are the strongest rolls here: a checker goes from the head into your home board in a single move.
The backgammon in 6:1 is counted by the loser’s starting quarter. Near the end it can pay to bring one more checker off the head instead of rushing home: a cleared starting quarter saves you from the triple price.
