Long backgammon
Every checker starts on the head and nothing gets hit. The win goes to whoever builds blocks better and leaves the opponent no way through.
Rules in short
- All 15 checkers start on one point, the head
- One checker may leave the head per turn, except on the first move
- Checkers are not hit. A point held by the opponent is simply closed
- Six in a row is not allowed if no opposing checker is ahead of them
- The goal is the same: bear all your checkers off first
Harder than it looks
Without hitting there is no way to win a tempo back, so every move costs more and a bad distribution follows you to the end of the game.
The BG Space analyzer reviews long backgammon too, with a model built specially for it.
